Care Guide

Every PATYO piece is made to live outdoors. Here's how to keep it looking its best across seasons.

Upcycled & PP Yarn

Chakra Chair · Bagru Fold · Bagru Recline · Jugaad Collection · Re-thread range · Chunari Sofa

Woven from recycled plastic packaging, this is the most weather-resistant material in the collection. It is UV-stabilised and does not absorb water.

Do

  • Wipe with a damp cloth
  • Rinse with a hose if dusty
  • Leave in rain without concern

Avoid

  • Harsh solvents or bleach
  • Abrasive scrubbing pads
  • High-pressure jets directly on the weave

The iron frame is powder-coated for rust resistance. If you notice any chips in the coating, touch up with a matching spray paint to prevent oxidation.

Hand-twisted Jute

Sutli Chair · Jugaad Collection (jute weave)

Jute is a natural fibre — it will soften and develop character over time. It is moisture-resistant enough for outdoor use but benefits from occasional shade during prolonged rain.

Do

  • Brush off dust with a dry brush
  • Spot-clean with mild soap and water
  • Allow to dry fully in the sun after wetting

Avoid

  • Soaking or submerging
  • Storing wet or in damp conditions
  • Direct, prolonged rain over many days

Water Hyacinth

Jalkumbhi Sofa · Jaal Sideboard

Water hyacinth is a dense, tightly woven natural fibre. Once dried and woven, it is quite robust, but like all natural materials it responds to moisture over time.

Do

  • Wipe with a lightly damp cloth
  • Dry immediately after any moisture
  • Use a furniture oil annually to nourish the fibre

Avoid

  • Leaving outdoors in heavy rain
  • Storing in direct sunlight for extended periods
  • Harsh chemicals

Natural Seagrass

Ghaas Lounge · Chowki range · Phool Stool · Katora Stool

Seagrass is naturally hardwearing and slightly waxy, which gives it good resistance to moisture and staining. It ages gracefully, developing a lighter patina over time.

Do

  • Wipe spills immediately with a dry cloth
  • Clean with a lightly damp cloth for dust
  • Rotate occasionally for even wear in sunlight

Avoid

  • Prolonged soaking
  • Sitting wet for long periods
  • Oil-based cleaners (can darken the fibre)

General advice

All PATYO pieces are built for outdoor use. The iron frames are powder-coated and will last many years with minimal care.

During monsoon, if you're not using a piece for an extended period, bringing it under a covered area prolongs colour and keeps the weave looking fresh.
